The new IS presents an unmistakably dynamic profile. Witness the sweeping coachwork, the broad, purposeful stance, the latticed, low front grille and the clean, muscular bonnet lines. Consider the steeply raked windscreen, the aerodynamic door-mounted mirror design and those 'arrowhead' rear three-quarter windows. Look at the contrasting convex and concave surfaces and the play of light and shadow across the pristine bodywork. Each element, observed individually, has the power to intrigue but also to inform.

There's refined power, balance and sophistication. And yet each feature, and this is perhaps the main achievement with the IS, also combines with the next to create a single cohesive unit that's as easy on the eye as it is engaging.

In this way, the IS epitomises our new design philosophy, defined largely by the terms 'incisive simplicity' and 'intriguing elegance'. The theme continues inside the new IS.
